Happy 60-year-old Kobe Bryant is the greatest athlete in NBA history, and now he’s getting his own birthday celebration.
Bryant will be celebrated with a special tribute on the eve of his 60th NBA season, which starts Friday.
Bret Hart, Shaquille O’Neal, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan will be among those present at the event, which will be streamed live on NBA TV.
The ceremony will take place at the Los Angeles Lakers’ Staples Center, where Bryant, who is averaging 29.4 points per game this season, is averaging 28.2.
The tribute to Bryant, whose jersey number is 613, will be performed by a team of his former teammates and some of his closest friends, including Shaquilles son, Jordan.
“It’s going to be a special moment, but also a celebration,” Shaquile O’neals son, Chris, told the Los, Times of Los Angeles.
“There’s going a lot of fun, and there’s going also a lot to celebrate and it’s going be a big party.”
Kobe Bryant and Shaquell O’Neill were close friends when he was a kid, Shaq told the paper.
He said he was excited to share the special moment with his dad, who was still in retirement and didn’t get a chance to celebrate his birthday with him.
Barry Bonds, one of the NBA’s all-time greats, will also join the tribute.
“Bryants life is what made him one of my best friends, and we’ve been so lucky to have him in my life, and I know he will miss it a lot,” he told the Times.
“I want to thank my dad, and it will be a great honor to be part of it.”
